The New England Nordic Ski Association seeks a new Executive Director to begin May 31, 2012. Our job description is clear: we seek a capable leader to be a mentor, an advocate, a tireless advertiser, and a strong builder of our organization. What our job description doesn’t actually say is that also we are looking [...]
SEEFELD IN TIROL, Austria– Every Nordic race director is well versed in Murphy’s Law. Today, Seefeld Stadium was more or less the Titanic—the unsinkable race venue. Temps were cold, the loops were covered with a meter and a half of perfectly groomed snow, thousands of cowbell clanging Tyroleans lined the course, and the IBU’s finest [...]
Since coming down with a whopper of a sinus infection nearly five months ago, Skyler Davis hadn’t felt like himself. After some very competitive racing at Black Mountain last week, when the snow finally settled, several New England athletes found themselves in the running for the J1 Scando trip to Estonia. A few of the J1 athletes also qualified for World Juniors and/or Youth Olympic games, thereby declining their spots to the J1 trip. Kate barton, Burke Mountain Academy, will be the trip leader to Estonia in February, 13- 27th.
In Rumford, Corey Stock (CSU), and Heather Mooney (Middlebury/SMS) continued to show that their skiing is solid. Corey Stock will be heading to Turkey for the World Junior Trip, and Heather has already landed in Innsbruck to compete in the first Youth Olympic Games. Julia Kern (CSU), Anika Miller (SMS), and Heidi Halvorsen (GMVS) have all earned spots to the J1 Scando Cup trip on the women's side.
For the men, Paddy Caldwell (SMS) joins Heather in Innsbruck while Eli Hoenig (CSU), Jack Hegman (Burke) and Thomas Rabon ( Burke) will be heading to Estonia to represent the U.S. at J1 Scando.

In some ways, starting off average works well for Billy Demong. It’s not that he would prefer to rank 21st out of 54 athletes, although for some nordic combined athletes, that would be a good jump in the World Cup. For Demong, a four-time Olympian and gold medalist, that result meant he was about 20 spots [...]
